Role Summary

The Building Automation Account Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for existing and prospective clients in building automation systems and controls. You’ll be responsible for driving sales growth by leveraging our technical services, fostering long-term client relationships, identifying opportunities for system upgrades, energy efficiency, and maintenance, and ensuring customer satisfaction from initial engagement through ongoing service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of accounts within target sectors (commercial buildings, institutional facilities, healthcare, etc.), identifying opportunities for design, installation, upgrades, maintenance, and energy efficiency related to building automation systems.

  • Educate clients on our full suite of services (engineering & design, custom programming, control panels, preventive & emergency service, remote monitoring, lighting solutions, etc.).

  • Work closely with internal teams (engineering/design, service, project management, programming, commissioning) to prepare proposals, quotations, technical value-adds, and ensure accurate scope, pricing, and timelines.

  • Maintain and grow relationships with facility managers, engineers, building owners, and other decision makers; ensure strong customer retention and satisfaction by delivering on promises, follow-ups, and proactive problem solving.

  • Track and report sales metrics (pipeline, conversions, revenue, margins) and provide feedback on market trends; collaborate on sales strategy, territory planning, and target setting.

  • Stay up-to-date on building automation controls technology, energy incentives/rebates, regulatory changes, and our partners to offer clients optimized, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Systems, or related field (or equivalent technical experience).

  • Proven sales experience (typically 3-7+ years) in building automation, controls systems, HVAC controls, lighting controls, or related fields.

  • Technical competency / ability to understand system design, control panel specifications, programming/commissioning concepts, integration challenges.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work in a consultative sales role: diagnosing customer pain points, designing solutions, and properly estimating cost/value.
