Job Title: HVAC Controls Technician
Location: New York City (Projects primarily in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens; occasional Bronx and Long Island)

About the Role
This position involves working on commercial building automation systems for new construction and service projects. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate with project managers and engineers. Candidates should be comfortable working in diverse environments across NYC boroughs.
Essential Functions (Required)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a BMS Service Technician
- Service, commission, and maintain building automation systems
- Troubleshoot and repair issues as needed
- Startup and commission electrical/electronic control systems
- Maintain accurate As-Built drawings
- Calibrate control systems using electronic test equipment and/or a laptop
- Configure operator workstations with associated software and graphics
- Perform job database backups
- Complete paperwork on time (time sheets, work orders, project status reports)
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Conduct preventative maintenance, repairs, and emergency service calls
- Train and assist junior technicians
Experience & Training (Required)
- Basic understanding of control logic
- Technical experience with DDC controls and building management systems
- Ability to troubleshoot DDC and low-voltage control systems
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and hands-on approach
- Knowledge of building automation standards (BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus)
- Familiarity with control systems in Boiler/Chiller/HVAC industry
- Ability to read wiring diagrams
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Tridium/Niagara
- Experience with Distech Controls
- Programming knowledge for on-the-fly adjustments (not full programming)
- Prior experience in commercial projects (schools, housing authority, corporate offices)
- Familiarity with NYC borough logistics and commuting
Work Environment
- Majority of work is new construction (approx. 70–80%), with some service work
- Occasional night shifts for school projects (small percentage)
- Quarterly office meetings and periodic in-house training
- Travel allowance provided (no company vehicle; public transport or personal vehicle acceptable)
