Job Purpose
The HVAC Controls Engineer will design and develop temperature control and building automation systems for commercial facilities. The engineer will prepare system layouts, design packages, submittals, and project documentation while ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications. The role may also support programming, system networking, and integration activities involving HVAC, lighting, access control, and security systems.
What You Will Be Doing
- Produce system layouts and detailed controls designs based on construction documents
- Generate design submittals, As-Built drawings, and O&M documentation
- Obtain cut sheets, coordinate submittal processes, and assemble O&M packages
- Ensure all system designs comply with contract drawings and specifications
- Select proper devices and materials aligned with project requirements
- Create custom graphic packages for building automation system interfaces
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams on design accuracy and quality
- Support coordination across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, lighting, access control, and CCTV disciplines
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Education
- Experience designing control systems for commercial HVAC applications
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and architectural construction documents
- Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Two or four-year degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage priorities independently and meet deadlines
