About the Role

This role plays a critical part in programming, commissioning, and optimizing building automation systems that improve comfort, efficiency, and sustainability across commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Required

  • Program, configure, and commission building automation systems for HVAC and related building systems
  • Develop and modify control logic, sequences of operation, and graphical user interfaces
  • Perform system start-ups, functional testing, and troubleshooting to ensure systems operate per design
  • Integrate third-party systems and devices using industry-standard protocols such as BACnet and Modbus
  • Review project documentation including drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation
  • Support field technicians during installation and commissioning phases
  • Document system configurations, programming changes, and as-built conditions
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams and end users as needed

Preferred

  • Participate in system optimization, energy efficiency improvements, and performance tuning
  • Assist with retrofits, system upgrades, and ongoing service support
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of programming standards and best practices

Required Qualifications
Required

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience programming building automation or HVAC control systems
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, control strategies, and building systems
  • Experience with at least one major BAS platform such as Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, or similar
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose software, hardware, and communication issues
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and controls drawings
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally within the Greater Boston area

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Controls, or a related technical field
  • Niagara N4 certification or manufacturer-specific programming certifications
  • Experience with energy management, analytics, or fault detection
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts related to building systems
