Position Summary
The Service Sales Representative is responsible for engineering, designing, and selling HVAC, plumbing, and controls-related projects to existing customers and prospective clients. This role also estimates, presents, and closes new maintenance agreements within current accounts while managing existing maintenance contracts.
This position requires confidence, initiative, independent judgment, and a strong sense of urgency. The ideal candidate is self-disciplined, competitive, organized, and comfortable handling both technical details and customer relationships. Success in this role requires the ability to adapt quickly, solve problems with practical thinking, and manage a broad range of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a four-year college or university; or five to ten years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Ability to work with both abstract and concrete variables
- Strong communication and customer relationship skills
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and take responsibility for results
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling HVAC, plumbing, controls, or mechanical system projects
- Experience estimating service or retrofit projects in enterprise software
- Experience using CRM software for call reporting, sales reporting, and account management
- Experience managing maintenance agreements and contract renewals
- Participation in relevant professional associations
Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned customer accounts, including maintenance customers, through ongoing communication, responsiveness, and system-related recommendations to improve performance or reliability
- Engineer, design, and sell HVAC-related projects, including refrigerant retrofits, unit replacements, direct digital control systems, mechanical system retrofits, and maintenance agreements
- Prepare estimates using enterprise software and present proposed services to customers
- Complete weekly status reports and call reports in CRM software
- Complete and submit weekly sales reports in CRM software
- Review assigned account profitability and cost status for contract renewal opportunities and pricing adjustments as needed
- Participate in professional associations selected by company leadership
- Follow up on leads generated by others, including field service technicians
- Identify cross-selling opportunities for other departments and coordinate with internal staff to help close orders
- Communicate with customers regarding payment requests and arrange payment plans for outstanding invoices
