Role Overview
The Building Automation Install Technician supports commercial, institutional, and industrial temperature controls projects by installing and commissioning building automation systems developed by in?house programmers. This role is focused on taking engineered solutions and making them work in the field through proper installation, wiring, checkout, and startup. Install Technicians are trusted to work independently, coordinate with internal teams, and deliver high?quality systems across schools, universities, hospitals, healthcare facilities, and industrial environments.
This position is ideal for a hands?on technician who understands HVAC controls, enjoys field work, and wants long?term growth in a company that builds systems from scratch rather than relying on canned solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Install building automation and temperature control systems on new construction and retrofit projects

Mount controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, control panels, and field devices

Pull, terminate, label, and test low?voltage control wiring

Download and deploy control programs created by in?house programmers

Perform point?to?point checkout and assist with system startup and commissioning

Modify existing control programs in the field as required to achieve proper system operation

Read and interpret wiring diagrams, control drawings, and project documentation

Coordinate daily activities with project managers, programmers, and other trades

Maintain safe, clean, and organized job sites

Communicate progress, issues, and solutions clearly
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

Experience working with HVAC controls or building automation systems

Ability to work with low?voltage wiring and control panels

Ability to read wiring diagrams and control drawings

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites

Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Preferred Qualifications
-
Multiple years of building automation or temperature controls installation experience

Experience with Schneider Electric EBO, Tridium Niagara, or JCI systems

Experience working in K?12 schools, universities, hospitals, or industrial facilities

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Experience modifying control programs, even if not building them from scratch
