Role Overview
The Building Automation Service Sales Engineer is a customer-facing, technically driven sales professional responsible for growing service, retrofit, and lifecycle solution revenue across the Atlanta metro area. This role blends deep building systems knowledge with consultative selling to help facility owners and operators improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and protect critical assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a territory sales plan focused on service agreements, system upgrades, retrofits, and analytics solutions across commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial facilities.
- Serve as a technical advisor to customers, assessing building automation, energy, security, and OT environments and recommending value-driven service solutions.
- Sell multi-year service agreements that improve system reliability, energy efficiency, and asset lifespan.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and service delivery teams to ensure accurate scoping, pricing, and seamless execution.
- Identify and qualify new opportunities through existing accounts, referrals, networking, and targeted prospecting.
- Present proposals, ROI analyses, and solution strategies to facility managers, directors, and C-level stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate opportunity tracking, forecasting, and customer activity within CRM systems.
- Stay current on building automation technologies, cybersecurity considerations for OT, energy regulations, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities (Preferred)
- Support strategic accounts with campus-wide or multi-site service programs.
- Participate in local industry associations and events in the Atlanta market to strengthen brand presence.
- Assist in developing standardized service offerings and sales tools to support regional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Systems, Energy Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years of sales or sales engineering experience in building automation, HVAC controls, energy services, or facility technologies.
- Strong understanding of BAS platforms, HVAC systems, energy management concepts, and service-based selling.
- Proven ability to sell complex, consultative solutions with long sales cycles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally throughout the Atlanta metro area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling service agreements, analytics, or lifecycle services rather than only new construction projects.
- Familiarity with security systems, IP video, access control, or OT cybersecurity in building environments.
- OEM or systems integrator background in building automation or smart building technologies.
- Professional certifications such as CEM, PMP, or manufacturer-specific BAS certifications.
