Role Overview
The Project Manager is a high-impact leadership role responsible for managing complex commercial mechanical construction projects while also serving as a working leader for other Project Managers. This position blends hands-on project execution with operational oversight and is ideal for a seasoned commercial PM ready to take on broader leadership responsibility.
This role supports large-scale institutional, healthcare, education, dormitory, and commercial projects ranging from $1M to $13M+, with select projects exceeding $8M. The position reports directly to executive leadership and plays a critical role in stabilizing workloads, mentoring Project Managers, and driving consistent project performance across the commercial division.
Key Responsibilities (Required)
- Lead and manage commercial mechanical construction projects from turnover through closeout
- Oversee project teams typically consisting of a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and one to two on-site leaders (foreman or superintendent)
- Act as a working leader to other Project Managers, providing coaching, accountability, and operational guidance
- Maintain ownership of project financials, schedules, manpower planning, and risk mitigation
- Participate in biweekly project reviews and executive reporting on cost, schedule, and performance metrics
- Coordinate closely with estimating, procurement, accounting, and executive leadership teams
- Maintain a regular presence in the office and on job sites, including full-time on-site placement for large or schedule-compressed projects when required
- Uphold company standards related to communication, teamwork, safety, and professionalism

Qualifications
- Experience in commercial mechanical construction project management
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, typically no more than four to five at one time
- Strong background in HVAC and mechanical systems
- Demonstrated experience managing projects in the $1M–$10M+ range
- Ability and willingness to work primarily from the Newark, Delaware headquarters (this is not a remote role)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving as a Project Manager, Project Executive, or similar leadership role overseeing other Project Managers
- Plumbing experience or exposure in addition to HVAC
- Experience transitioning from field or service roles into commercial construction leadership
- Background working on institutional, healthcare, higher education, or large commercial projects
- Experience managing compressed schedules and high-visibility projects
