Overview
We are seeking a technically driven Building Automation Application Engineer to support the design, engineering, and delivery of advanced BACnet-based energy management and building automation systems throughout the Atlanta market. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented engineer who enjoys translating customer requirements into fully functional, high-performing control systems that optimize comfort, energy efficiency, and operational reliability.
The Application Engineer plays a critical role between sales, project management, and field operations, ensuring building automation solutions for HVAC, lighting, power monitoring, and access control are engineered accurately and executed to the highest standards using enterprise platforms such as WebView by Reliable Controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and configure building automation systems using BACnet architecture for commercial and institutional facilities
- Develop detailed control sequences, system architectures, network layouts, and points lists
- Create submittal packages, drawings, and technical documentation for HVAC, lighting, power, and access control integration
- Program, configure, and support WebView and other enterprise-level BAS platforms
- Support sales engineers with system design, technical validation, and value-engineering solutions during the pre-sales phase
- Coordinate with project managers, field technicians, and contractors to ensure systems are installed and commissioned per design
- Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and optimization during startup and commissioning phases
- Configure enterprise scheduling, trending, analytics, alarms, and energy reporting tools
- Provide technical support and training to end users, operators, and internal teams
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with energy performance objectives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Automation, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
- 3+ years of experience engineering or programming building automation or HVAC control systems
- Strong knowledge of BACnet protocols and BAS system architectures
- Hands-on experience with BAS programming, system configuration, and commissioning
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control drawings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites within the Atlanta metro area
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Reliable Controls, WebView, or similar enterprise BAS platforms
- Background in HVAC system design, energy management, or controls integration
- Familiarity with energy analytics, central plant optimization, and enterprise scheduling strategies
- Knowledge of networking concepts including IP addressing, VLANs, and secure remote access
- Previous experience supporting both pre-sales and post-sales engineering activities
