Position Overview
As a Senior BAS Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering building automation projects from concept through commissioning. You will collaborate with cross-functional project teams to design, program, and implement advanced control systems while ensuring optimal system performance and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project planning, including scoping, scheduling, and risk identification
- Collaborate with project teams to proactively resolve technical and operational challenges
- Evaluate scope changes, change orders, and evolving client needs
- Coordinate with multiple trades during installation and commissioning phases
- Perform system startups, commissioning, and performance validation
- Specify equipment and materials to meet system performance requirements
- Diagnose and resolve control system issues, ensuring occupant comfort and system efficiency
- Troubleshoot controllers, communication networks, programming logic, and scheduling issues
- Ensure measurement and verification (M&V) systems are accurate and properly maintained
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and clients
Position Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of technical or field experience in controls, automation, or related fields
- 2+ years of experience with HVAC systems and IT/networking concepts
- 2+ years of commissioning and testing building automation systems
- 2+ years of programming or modifying sequence of operations for control systems
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools
- Strong written, verbal, and customer-facing communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and trades
- Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred:
- Experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure or Niagara 4 platforms
- Familiarity with building automation system integration and advanced controls strategies
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and logistics
- Experience working in commercial or industrial building environments
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or provide technical leadership
