Position Overview
As an HVAC Service Controls Technician, you will serve as a key front-line technical expert and customer contact, responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing building automation and HVAC control systems at client sites.This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who thrives in a field-based environment, enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, and values delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and professionalism
  • Communicate effectively with building owners, contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Coordinate with account managers and service teams to understand project and service requirements
  • Analyze building systems, review layouts, and anticipate potential issues prior to execution
  • Perform programming, startup, commissioning, functional testing, and system troubleshooting
  • Diagnose issues with controllers, communication wiring, and software programming
  • Utilize advanced tools and building automation technologies to identify and resolve system concerns
  • Provide technical expertise to support system performance and occupant comfort
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and safety standards
  • Maintain clear documentation and communication throughout service activities
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and field conditions with flexibility

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of technical and/or field experience in HVAC, controls, or building automation
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and basic IT/networking concepts
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate under pressure
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check

Preferred:

  • Experience with Niagara AX building automation systems
  • Familiarity with LON and BACnet communication protocols
  • Previous experience in building automation service or controls field service
  • Industry knowledge in commercial HVAC and control systems
  • Exposure to advanced controls programming and integration
