Job Title: Project Manager – Building Automation Systems

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager – Building Automation Systems to lead the successful delivery of commercial building automation and direct digital control (DDC) projects. This role is responsible for overseeing projects from planning through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing BAS/DDC projects, strong technical knowledge of building automation systems, excellent client-facing skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of BAS/DDC control system projects, from project initiation through commissioning and closeout.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, engineers, and internal stakeholders to define project requirements, schedules, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Coordinate and oversee project teams, including controls engineers, field technicians, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure successful project execution.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate risks and challenges.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead project meetings, including kickoff meetings, progress reviews, coordination meetings, and project closeouts.
- Conduct site visits to assess project status, verify installation quality, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, drawings, schedules, change orders, and closeout packages.
- Review and process change orders, evaluating impacts to scope, schedule, and budget while obtaining necessary approvals.
- Support pre-construction and project planning activities, including scope reviews, estimating support, and technical consultations.
- Coordinate commissioning activities and ensure project deliverables meet customer expectations and contractual requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all safety standards, company policies, and applicable industry regulations.
- Participate in project reviews and lessons learned discussions to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to project team members and assist in developing best practices across project operations.
Required Qualifications
- Experience managing commercial building automation or controls projects.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Experience working with project schedules, budgets, cost tracking, and project documentation.
- Strong understanding of BAS/DDC control systems, HVAC systems, and building automation technologies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or other building automation communication protocols.
- Experience managing projects involving commissioning, retrofits, energy efficiency upgrades, or new construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
- Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and document control software.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Knowledge of construction, mechanical, and electrical systems in commercial facilities.
