Job Title: Building Automation Systems Project Manager

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Systems (BAS) Project Manager to lead the successful execution of commercial and institutional building automation projects throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area and surrounding Southeast region.
The BAS Project Manager will oversee all phases of assigned projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, installation, commissioning, customer communication, and project closeout. This role serves as the primary liaison between clients, subcontractors, field technicians, engineers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple BAS and controls projects simultaneously
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and milestone tracking.
- Coordinate engineering, programming, graphics development, installation, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Lead project kickoff meetings and maintain regular communication with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Review project drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and contract requirements.
- Manage project financial performance including forecasting, change orders, cost control, billing, and profitability.
- Coordinate procurement of controls equipment and subcontractor services.
- Monitor project progress and identify risks, resource constraints, and schedule impacts.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, building codes, company standards, and safety regulations.
- Support field technicians and project engineers during installation and commissioning phases.
- Manage project documentation, submittals, RFIs, closeout packages, and as-built drawings.
- Participate in project turnover meetings and customer training sessions.
- Foster long-term client relationships resulting in repeat business opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
- Project management experience within Building Automation Systems, HVAC controls, or energy management systems.
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems including:
- Chillers
- Boilers
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems
- Cooling towers
- Pumping systems
- Experience managing BAS installations from design through commissioning.
- Working knowledge of BACnet and other open communication protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project scheduling tools, and project financial management software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Atlanta area.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification.
- Experience with Tridium, Distech, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Automated Logic, or similar BAS platforms.
- Experience with energy conservation projects and facility optimization initiatives.
- Familiarity with lighting controls, access control systems, power monitoring, and integrated building technologies.
- Experience managing healthcare, higher education, government, industrial, or mission-critical facility projects.
- Knowledge of LEED, energy efficiency programs, and sustainability initiatives.
