Position Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and results-driven BAS Controls Sales Representative to expand our presence throughout the Hartford metropolitan area and surrounding Connecticut markets. This position is responsible for developing new business opportunities, building long-term customer relationships, and selling Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, energy management solutions, system upgrades, service agreements, and retrofit projects.
Key Responsibilities
Required
- Identify, develop, and close new BAS and HVAC controls sales opportunities.
- Prospect and build relationships with building owners, facility directors, consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, and property managers.
- Generate proposals for system upgrades, retrofits, service agreements, and turnkey automation projects.
- Conduct facility assessments to identify energy savings, operational improvements, and modernization opportunities.
- Deliver compelling sales presentations and technical demonstrations.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and service teams to develop customer-focused solutions.
- Develop accurate project estimates, scopes of work, and pricing proposals.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and manage opportunities through the CRM system.
- Negotiate contracts and close profitable business opportunities.
- Meet or exceed annual sales and gross margin objectives.
- Stay current on BAS technologies, energy regulations, cybersecurity best practices, and industry trends.
- Attend customer meetings, networking events, and industry trade shows throughout Connecticut.
Preferred
- Develop strategic account plans for large enterprise customers.
- Assist with mentoring junior sales professionals and field personnel transitioning into sales.
- Participate in long-term growth initiatives for healthcare, education, municipal, commercial real estate, and industrial markets.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in BAS, HVAC controls, building automation, facility systems, or related industries.
- Proven ability to develop customer relationships and identify business opportunities.
- Understanding of HVAC systems, controls, energy management, and building operations.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, control schematics, and project specifications.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel throughout Connecticut.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
Preferred
- Previous experience selling BAS solutions, HVAC controls, service agreements, or energy management projects.
- Experience with Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Distech, Alerton, or similar platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience working with consulting engineers and design-build contractors.
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and IP-based control networks.
