Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician to support the startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of building automation and control systems throughout the Greater Denver area. The ideal candidate will have experience working with DDC controls, HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and building automation technologies.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring building systems operate efficiently, reliably, and according to project specifications. The BAS Technician will work independently and collaboratively with project teams to deliver high-quality installations, system integrations, and customer training.
Key Responsibilities
Required
- Perform startup and commissioning activities for building automation and control systems
- Configure and utilize BAS software functions including:
- Trend logs
- Alarms
- Reporting
- Graphics
- System backups
- Zone management
- Troubleshoot BAS, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical system issues
- Verify operation of Direct Digital Control (DDC) devices and field equipment
- Execute field modifications and implement approved project changes
- Document field conditions and maintain accurate as-built drawings
- Complete commissioning checklists and startup documentation
- Assist with control panel assembly, installation, and verification
- Coordinate field activities with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors
- Provide training and system demonstrations to building owners, operators, and end users
- Support project completion while maintaining schedules and project budgets
- Travel locally throughout the Greater Denver metropolitan area to customer sites
Preferred
- Assist with minor control programming modifications and sequence adjustments
- Support integration of third-party systems and equipment
- Participate in energy optimization and system performance improvement initiatives
- Assist in developing commissioning and service documentation
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree in Applied Technology, HVAC Technology, Electronics, Industrial Controls, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Controls (DDC)
- Knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and equipment operation
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and control systems
- Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with control system software
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
Preferred
- 2+ years of BAS, controls, commissioning, or HVAC controls experience
- Experience with commercial building automation platforms
- Basic controls programming experience
- Familiarity with networking concepts related to BAS systems
- Previous experience in healthcare, data center, education, laboratory, or commercial facilities
- Industry certifications related to controls, HVAC, or commissioning
