Position Summary
The Building Automation Business Development Representative is responsible for driving growth of our building automation and controls solutions throughout the Twin Cities. This role focuses on identifying new opportunities, developing strong customer relationships, and positioning our company as a trusted long-term partner for building automation, energy efficiency, and system optimization.
This is a consultative sales role that blends technical understanding with relationship?building, helping customers improve comfort, efficiency, reliability, and operational performance through modern automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Required

Proactively identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities for building automation and controls systems in the Minneapolis–St. Paul market

Build and maintain strong relationships with building owners, property managers, facility managers, general contractors, and consulting engineers

Conduct customer meetings to assess needs, understand building challenges, and recommend appropriate automation solutions

Develop and manage a consistent sales pipeline, tracking opportunities from lead generation through contract close

Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and service teams to ensure smooth handoff and successful project execution

Prepare and deliver proposals, presentations, and basic system concepts aligned with customer goals

Represent us at industry events, networking functions, and customer meetings

Maintain accurate records of activities, opportunities, and forecasts using CRM tools

Identify retrofit and energy?efficiency opportunities within existing customer accounts

Support long-term service and preventative maintenance growth tied to automation systems

Stay current on building automation trends, codes, and emerging technologies
Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management within HVAC, mechanical, building automation, or related construction services

Strong communication and relationship?building skills with the ability to engage both technical and non?technical stakeholders

Proven ability to prospect, develop, and close new business opportunities

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Twin Cities
Preferred Qualifications

Experience selling building automation systems (BAS), controls, or energy management solutions

Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and facility operations

Knowledge of automation platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Tridium, or similar

Experience working with property management groups, healthcare, education, industrial, or large commercial facilities
