Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Building Automation Systems (BAS) Install Technician to join our Controls team. This role plays a critical part in delivering high quality installations that support complex HVAC, mechanical, and building automation projects across commercial and healthcare environments. You’ll work closely with senior technicians, programmers, project managers, and leadership to ensure that all control systems are installed accurately, efficiently, and safely.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively with field teams, leadership, and customers. This position offers strong growth potential into commissioning, programming, or senior technical paths.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Field Work 

  • Install BAS field devices including sensors, actuators, controllers, VFDs, and network infrastructure.
  • Pull, label, and terminate low-voltage control wiring according to engineered drawings and submittals.
  • Mount control panels, route conduit, and ensure compliance with all electrical and mechanical standards.
  • Perform point-to-point checkout, device verification, and assist in functional testing.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and coordinate with commissioning and programming teams to resolve them.

 

Collaboration & Communication 

  • Work closely with senior technicians, project managers, and programmers to ensure installation accuracy.
  • Communicate field conditions, progress updates, and installation challenges clearly and promptly.
  • Represent the Controls team professionally with customers, contractors, and internal partners.

 

Documentation & Quality Control

  • Update redline drawings, device lists, and checklists as installation progresses.
  • Verify proper installation against design documents and escalate discrepancies.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, site procedures, and industry best practices at all times.

 

Technical Growth & Development (Preferred)

  • Assist with basic system startup procedures under direction from senior staff.
  • Begin developing an understanding of BAS architecture, programming principles, and HVAC system operations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certification opportunities.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in BAS installation, commercial electrical work, HVAC controls, low-voltage systems, or a related technical trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and control submittals.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Reliable communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work both independently and in teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work on active construction and customer sites.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta, Distech, Tridium).
  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of IP networks, BACnet, Modbus, or related protocols.
  • OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification.
  • Experience performing point-to-point checks or assisting with system commissioning.
