About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Building Automation Operations Manager to lead and scale our building automation services across the Atlanta market. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep BACnet expertise who thrives at the intersection of technology, energy efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
You will oversee daily operations for building automation systems that integrate HVAC, lighting, power monitoring, and access controls. Your leadership will directly impact system performance, energy savings, occupant comfort, and long-term client relationships across commercial and institutional facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all operational aspects of building automation and energy management projects across the Atlanta region
- Oversee commissioning, optimization, and lifecycle support of BACnet-based systems, including HVAC, lighting, power, and door access automation
- Manage a team of approximately 6–12 technicians, programmers, and engineers, setting performance goals and ensuring technical excellence
- Ensure systems deliver measurable outcomes such as energy savings, optimized scheduling, trending accuracy, and reliable alarming
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex system issues, remote monitoring alarms, and enterprise-level integrations
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to transition projects from design through long-term operations
- Drive consistency in standards, documentation, cybersecurity practices, and customer-facing reporting
- Maintain strong client relationships with facility managers, owners, and operators to ensure satisfaction and repeat business
Technical Expertise
- Deep hands-on experience with BACnet energy management systems
- Proven ability to manage centralized control systems, enterprise scheduling, optimization, and energy analytics
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, central plant optimization, and integrated building technologies
- Experience with remote monitoring, alarming, trending, and customized energy reporting
- Ability to interpret building performance data and translate it into actionable operational improvements
Leadership & Business Skills
- Demonstrated experience managing operations teams and field staff
- Strong project prioritization, resource planning, and workload forecasting skills
- Ability to mentor and develop technical talent in a fast-evolving building automation environment
- Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Reliable Controls platforms, including WebView
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Automation, Facilities Management, or a related field
- Prior responsibility for regional or multi-site BAS operations
- Experience supporting healthcare, higher education, data centers, or large commercial portfolios
- Familiarity with utility incentive programs, energy benchmarking, or sustainability reporting
