Job Title: BAS Programmer
Location: Greater Houston, TX Area
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overview
We are hiring a highly specialized Controls Systems Programmer to support a rapidly expanding project backlog across building automation systems. This role is intentionally designed for a programming-focused professional, not a generalist—ideal for someone who prefers developing, configuring, and optimizing systems rather than spending the majority of time in the field.
You will play a critical role in delivering scalable, high-performance BAS solutions using Distech and Niagara platforms, with flexibility to work in a hybrid or primarily office-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, and deploy control system programs using Distech and Tridium Niagara platforms
- Build and maintain system databases, integrations, and graphical user interfaces for BAS environments
- Optimize system performance through debugging, testing, and refinement of control logic
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure clean programming handoffs into commissioning/startup
- Support commissioning activities at a high level (not field-heavy; involvement primarily at startup stages)
- Document programming standards, naming conventions, and system architecture
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on programming experience with Distech and Tridium Niagara (strict requirement for this role)
- Demonstrated expertise in BAS programming, system databases, and control logic development
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and controls integration
- Ability to independently execute programming tasks across multiple projects
- Experience delivering clean, scalable, and maintainable control system solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of experience in building automation or controls programming
- Experience working in a programmer-focused or back-end role vs. field-heavy positions
- Familiarity with system design layouts or engineering coordination
- Interest in long-term growth into technical leadership or project management
- Exposure to large commercial or complex BAS deployments
