Position Overview
A well-established commercial and industrial building systems provider is seeking a Senior Building Automation Programmer to lead the programming, commissioning, and optimization of advanced Building Automation Systems (BAS). This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable control solutions for complex facilities while serving as a technical leader and mentor within the controls team. The ideal candidate brings deep BAS expertise, strong HVAC knowledge, and a passion for solving challenging system integration problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the programming, configuration, and commissioning of Building Automation Systems for large and technically complex projects
  • Develop, test, and validate control sequences to ensure optimal HVAC performance, occupant comfort, and energy efficiency
  • Act as the senior technical resource for BAS platforms including Schneider Electric, Delta Controls, and Tridium Niagara
  • Review construction documents, control drawings, and sequences of operation to ensure accurate system implementation
  • Troubleshoot complex BAS and HVAC system issues both remotely and onsite, delivering long-term corrective solutions
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and field service teams to support successful project delivery
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid-level programmers, improving team consistency and performance
  • Support system startups, functional performance testing, owner training, and final system validation
  • Identify opportunities to improve programming standards, workflows, and tools across the organization

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience programming and commissioning Building Automation Systems
  • Proven experience with at least one major BAS platform, including Schneider Electric, Delta Controls, or Tridium Niagara
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control theory, and sequences of operation
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, control drawings, and technical specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex BAS and HVAC system issues
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the region
  • Experience working across multiple BAS platforms, including Niagara based systems
  • Background in Design/Build project environments
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading other BAS programmers
  • Knowledge of energy optimization strategies, analytics, and system performance tuning
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in engineering, controls, or a related discipline
