About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Building Automation Systems (BAS) Project Manager to oversee a blended portfolio of construction projects and service-based initiatives. This role ensures the successful delivery of BAS installations, retrofits, upgrades, and ongoing service programs for public, institutional, commercial, and government clients. You will manage client relationships, financial performance, technical execution, and field operations to ensure all projects and service activities are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Service Management
- Provide daily administrative, technical, and operational oversight for both construction projects and service-based BAS initiatives delivering energy savings and system optimization.
- Manage service project workflows including planned maintenance tasks, service retrofit opportunities, minor construction scopes, and customer-requested repairs or upgrades.
- Oversee project accounting, budgeting, schedule tracking, forecasting, and internal reporting for both service and construction scopes.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, including revenue recognition and project setup procedures; act as a liaison between operations and business office teams.
Client Relationship & Communication (Required)
- Serve as the primary interface with customers, managing expectations, contractual obligations, service agreements, and performance outcomes.
- Deliver a high level of customer service across both construction and ongoing service engagements, ensuring long-term satisfaction and repeat business.
Design, Engineering, and Technical Support
- Support engineering and development teams with scope creation, cost estimation, subcontractor selection, installation planning, and scheduling for construction and service retrofit work.
- Review subcontractor and vendor bids to determine alignment with scope, schedule, material delivery, and budget requirements.
Vendor, Subcontractor, and Field Management
- Manage subcontractors, service technicians, and construction site supervisors to ensure quality control, safety compliance, timely project delivery, and adherence to customer expectations.
- Maintain accurate and updated project schedules, including critical-path tracking and open-item management.
- Provide detailed two?week look?ahead schedules for both construction and service activities to support customer coordination.
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Monitor financial health, job costs, labor utilization, and forecast-to-complete expectations across all assigned projects and service programs.
- Manage expenditures, documentation, approvals, payment reporting, monthly forecasting, and cost tracking.
Safety, Compliance & Other Duties
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, customer, and jurisdictional safety standards and codes across all work environments.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall operational success.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial power, electrical, mechanical, engineering, or BAS project management for both construction and service environments, including facility retrofits, upgrades, automation, and energy services.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
Preferred:
- Experience with energy?efficiency technologies including direct digital controls, variable frequency drives, high?efficiency motors, central plant equipment, lighting retrofits, renewable technologies, and service/warranty procedures.
- Proven understanding of OSHA safety standards and mechanical/electrical systems regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain positive customer and vendor relationships.
- Strong verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Project; Procore experience preferred.
