Position Overview
A leading building automation and energy solutions provider is seeking an experienced Building Automation Systems (BAS) Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of commercial, institutional, and industrial controls projects throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.
This role is responsible for managing projects from initial kickoff through commissioning and closeout while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC controls, energy management solutions, and system integration technologies.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers, engineers, subcontractors, field technicians, and internal stakeholders to deliver innovative energy-efficient solutions that improve building performance while maintaining occupant comfort.
Key Responsibilities
Required:
- Manage BAS and controls projects from contract award through final turnover.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate engineering, programming, installation, commissioning, and service activities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, and sequences of operation.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and equipment procurement activities.
- Track project financials, labor utilization, change orders, and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, customer requirements, and project specifications.
- Coordinate and support system startup, commissioning, and owner training activities.
- Resolve technical and project-related issues to maintain schedule commitments.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
Preferred:
- Identify opportunities for system optimization and energy savings.
- Support business development teams with project estimates and technical guidance.
- Mentor junior project managers, engineers, and controls specialists.
Required Qualifications
- Experience managing Building Automation Systems projects.
- Experience with commercial HVAC controls and energy management systems.
- Strong understanding of controls integration, networking, and field device communication.
- Knowledge of industry protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or similar technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings.
- Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, and customer relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with multiple BAS platforms and open-system architectures.
- Familiarity with Niagara Framework and enterprise building management systems.
- Experience working with healthcare, higher education, industrial, pharmaceutical, or large commercial facilities.
