Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Building Automation System (BAS) Service Technician to join our growing team. This opportunity is ideal for a technician with 1-5 years of experience in the field who is ready to advance their career in building controls, automation, and smart building technologies.
As a Service Technician, you will install, troubleshoot, program, maintain, and optimize Building Management Systems (BMS) for commercial and industrial facilities. You will work with leading automation platforms while helping customers improve energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and system performance.
Key Responsibilities
Required
- Perform startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
- Diagnose and repair electronic, electrical, and mechanical control components associated with HVAC and building equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service visits for customer facilities.
- Program, configure, and modify BAS software and controllers to meet project specifications.
- Integrate HVAC, lighting, and life safety systems into centralized Building Management Systems.
- Analyze control sequences, wiring diagrams, schematics, and network architecture to identify and resolve issues.
- Provide remote and onsite technical support to customers.
- Document service activities, system changes, and recommendations accurately and professionally.
- Ensure BAS/BMS networks remain secure and follow cybersecurity best practices.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through excellent communication and service.
Preferred
- Participate in system upgrades, retrofits, and energy optimization initiatives.
- Assist with commissioning activities and performance verification testing.
- Mentor junior technicians as experience grows within the organization.
Qualifications
Required
- 1-5 years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC Controls, Controls Service, Building Management Systems, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, and building controls.
- Understanding of DDC logic, control sequences, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts including IP addressing, routing, and remote connectivity.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to customer sites.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred
- Associate degree, technical certification, or vocational training in HVAC, Electrical Technology, Automation, Controls, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Distech, Schneider Electric, or similar BAS platforms.
- Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and other building automation protocols.
- Experience with system graphics development and user interfaces.
- Industry certifications related to BAS, HVAC, controls, or networking.
