Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Building Automation Systems (BAS) Service Technician to support, maintain, and optimize advanced building control systems across commercial and institutional facilities in the Greater Charlotte area. This role is ideal for a technician passionate about energy efficiency, sustainability, and delivering measurable performance improvements for clients. You will work directly with customers to ensure their HVAC and building automation systems operate at peak efficiency, reducing energy consumption, extending equipment life, and minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Required
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair BAS systems including HVAC controls, sensors, controllers, and networks
- Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections to ensure long-term reliability
- Program and commission building automation systems and make system adjustments as needed
- Analyze system performance data to identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs
- Respond to service calls and provide timely, professional resolution to customer issues
- Document service activities, system changes, and performance metrics accurately
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and high-quality service delivery
Preferred
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and sales teams to support ongoing projects and upgrades
- Assist with system upgrades, retrofits, and integration of new technologies
Qualifications
Required
- 2–5+ years of hands-on experience with BAS, HVAC controls, or similar systems
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and troubleshooting methods
- Experience with BAS platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Tridium
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally within the Greater Charlotte area
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred
- Technical degree or certification in HVAC, electronics, or building automation
- Experience with energy management systems and sustainability initiatives
- Familiarity with networking protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks
- Experience supporting large commercial or institutional facilities
Work Environment & Schedule
- Primarily field-based role with travel to client sites across the Greater Charlotte area
- Standard Monday–Friday schedule with occasional after-hours or emergency service calls
