BAS Technician – Houston Texas

Job Title: BAS Controls Technician
Location: Greater Houston, TX Area

Position Overview
The BAS Controls Technician plays a critical role in implementing and maintaining high-performance building automation systems. As part of a skilled team, you will install, program, commission, and service Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems while working both independently and collaboratively across office and field environments.

This position is ideal for a technically proficient professional who thrives on problem-solving, project ownership, and direct customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Install, start up, commission, and service DDC building automation systems
  • Diagnose and repair complex BAS issues using mechanical, electrical, and software expertise
  • Develop and modify control algorithms and system programming
  • Download and manage controller code, system databases, and graphical user interfaces
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and troubleshoot system faults
  • Coordinate project schedules, milestones, and progress reporting with contractors and stakeholders
  • Track labor and materials to ensure projects remain on budget
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers to maintain adherence to timelines
  • Identify field changes and assist in change order pricing and communication
  • Generate extra work orders for out-of-scope work
  • Calibrate, adjust, and repair building systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Deliver customer training and complete project closeout documentation
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal team members
  • Adhere to all safety standards, ethical practices, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
Required:

  • Associate degree or vocational training in electronics, HVAC, mechanical systems, or related field
    OR equivalent military training plus 2+ years of experience OR 5+ years of HVAC or controls-related experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with LonWorks and/or BACnet control systems
  • Strong understanding of DDC systems and HVAC system operation
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical schematics
  • Basic understanding of IP networking
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and travel as needed

Preferred:

  • Experience with Tridium Niagara 4 platform
  • Certification in Niagara Tridium
  • Familiarity with Siemens Talon and/or Distech Controls
  • Experience working on commercial construction projects
  • Prior commissioning and customer training experience
