Job Title: BAS Controls Technician

Position Overview
The BAS Controls Technician plays a critical role in implementing and maintaining high-performance building automation systems. As part of a skilled team, you will install, program, commission, and service Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems while working both independently and collaboratively across office and field environments.
This position is ideal for a technically proficient professional who thrives on problem-solving, project ownership, and direct customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, start up, commission, and service DDC building automation systems
- Diagnose and repair complex BAS issues using mechanical, electrical, and software expertise
- Develop and modify control algorithms and system programming
- Download and manage controller code, system databases, and graphical user interfaces
- Interpret wiring diagrams and troubleshoot system faults
- Coordinate project schedules, milestones, and progress reporting with contractors and stakeholders
- Track labor and materials to ensure projects remain on budget
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers to maintain adherence to timelines
- Identify field changes and assist in change order pricing and communication
- Generate extra work orders for out-of-scope work
- Calibrate, adjust, and repair building systems to ensure optimal performance
- Deliver customer training and complete project closeout documentation
- Provide technical support to customers and internal team members
- Adhere to all safety standards, ethical practices, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree or vocational training in electronics, HVAC, mechanical systems, or related field
OR equivalent military training plus 2+ years of experience OR 5+ years of HVAC or controls-related experience - Minimum 2 years of experience with LonWorks and/or BACnet control systems
- Strong understanding of DDC systems and HVAC system operation
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical schematics
- Basic understanding of IP networking
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work occasional overtime and travel as needed
Preferred:
- Experience with Tridium Niagara 4 platform
- Certification in Niagara Tridium
- Familiarity with Siemens Talon and/or Distech Controls
- Experience working on commercial construction projects
- Prior commissioning and customer training experience
