Position Overview
A leading building automation and energy management integrator is seeking an experienced Building Automation Traveling Project Manager to lead complex, high-value projects across multiple markets nationwide. This role is ideal for a results-driven project manager who excels in fast-paced environments, enjoys travel, and has a proven track record managing technically sophisticated building automation systems. Projects range from large new-construction deployments to complex retrofit initiatives in mission-critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of building automation and energy management projects, from project kickoff through closeout
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects, with workload dependent on project size and complexity
  • Act as the primary customer contact, ensuring alignment on scope, schedule, budget, and expectations
  • Coordinate cross-functional internal teams including engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Develop, track, and manage detailed project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance
  • Lead change management, risk mitigation, and contract compliance efforts
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time to support national accounts, job sites, and customer meetings
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality requirements, and internal project delivery best practices
  • Support scaling project operations for enterprise and national account programs

 

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing building automation, controls, or energy management projects
  • Proven ability to lead projects valued at $1M or greater
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally approximately 50% of the time
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working across diverse building types such as data centers, healthcare, labs, commercial offices, or municipal facilities

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large-scale data center or healthcare automation projects
  • Familiarity with national account or enterprise-level project delivery models
  • Experience working with multi-vendor or system-agnostic building automation platforms
  • Background supporting rapidly growing project organizations or multi-site programs

 

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $100,000 – $160,000 annually, based on experience
  • Performance-based incentive plan with earning potential up to 25% of base salary
  • Travel expenses covered through reimbursement or company-approved methods
