Position Summary
This role is responsible for installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining building automation, HVAC controls, and low?voltage systems. The Field Technician / Service Technician is a customer?facing position that requires technical skill, problem?solving ability, and a commitment to high?quality work. The technician will work independently and as part of a team to ensure systems are performing safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
(Required)
- Install, troubleshoot, and service HVAC control systems and related components.
- Perform point?to?point testing, system checkout, and functional verification.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and sequences of operation.
- Diagnose system and equipment issues and complete timely repairs.
- Document service activity, commissioning results, and work progress accurately.
- Communicate with customers regarding findings, system performance, and recommendations.
- Maintain safe work practices in accordance with industry and internal standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure on?time and high?quality project completion.
(Preferred)
- Experience with major building automation platforms or low?voltage systems.
- Familiarity with protocols such as BACnet or Modbus.
- Ability to mentor junior technicians or assist with training.
- Experience working in both project and service environments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in HVAC controls, building automation, or a related technical field.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work on ladders, and navigate mechanical and electrical spaces.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical and electrical systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in HVAC, electronics, or building technologies.
- Manufacturer or industry certifications (such as Niagara N4, Tridium, or similar).
- Experience with commissioning tools or basic BAS programming.
