Role Overview
The Building Automation Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and optimizing building automation and HVAC control systems in live facilities. This role requires strong technical judgment, the ability to self-manage, and confidence making decisions in the field. Service Technicians are trusted to support customers directly, resolve complex system issues, and keep critical facilities operating efficiently.
This position is well-suited for experienced controls technicians who value autonomy, problem-solving, and working within a collaborative, high-trust team culture.
Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and troubleshoot building automation and HVAC control systems

Service controllers, sensors, actuators, networks, and field devices

Modify and adjust existing control programs to restore or improve system performance

Identify and resolve communication and network issues within BAS environments

Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections

Support system upgrades, expansions, and retrofits

Communicate clearly with customers regarding findings and recommended solutions

Coordinate with programmers and internal teams on advanced troubleshooting

Accurately document service work, changes, and recommendations

Participate in on-call rotation as required
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

Several years of hands-on experience servicing building automation or HVAC control systems

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Ability to work independently and manage daily service priorities

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the service area

Strong communication and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications

Advanced BAS service experience in live, occupied facilities
-
Experience with Schneider Electric EBO, Tridium Niagara, JCI, or similar platforms
-
Experience supporting hospitals, universities, K-12 schools, or industrial facilities
-
Knowledge of BACnet and IP-based building automation networks
-
Ability to mentor or support junior technicians
