Position Overview
The organization is seeking skilled and versatile Building Automation Technicians to support service, retrofit, new construction, and energy?related projects. This role works directly with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls, performing installation, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
Technicians are assigned to projects typically within one hour to approximately 75 minutes of their home location to support work–life balance and minimize unnecessary travel.
Key Responsibilities
Required:
- Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems.
- Perform diagnostics, point?to?point verification, and system functionality testing.
- Support startup, commissioning, and system optimization activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and service teams to resolve system issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and system adjustments.
- Interact professionally with customers, ensuring high service quality.
Preferred:
- Field experience with leading BAS platforms such as Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, or comparable systems.
- Ability to provide customer training or system guidance.
- Experience supporting energy?focused or performance?based projects.
Technical Skills
Required:
- Strong technical aptitude in BAS, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or controls-related systems.
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve mechanical and control issues.
- Willingness and ability to engage in programming?related tasks, as programming represents a significant portion of modern BAS work.
Preferred:
- Ability to program, modify, or write BAS code from scratch.
- Familiarity with IP networks, controllers, and multi?platform integrations.
- Experience with security, life?safety, or related facility technologies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Field experience in HVAC controls, BAS, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or similar technical environments.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work independently at customer sites.
- Strong analytical mindset and problem?solving ability.
Preferred:
- Technical military background (strongly valued): avionics, submarine systems, jet systems, electronics, or similar experience.
- Experience working for or with major BAS providers such as Honeywell, Siemens, or Johnson Controls.
Work Environment & Travel
Required:
- Ability to travel to job sites within approximately 60–75 minutes of home.
- Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and varied facility environments.
Preferred:
- Flexibility for occasional emergency service or off?hours support based on customer needs.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary:
- $85,000 – $125,000, depending on experience, technical depth, and programming capabilities.
