We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our HVAC and Building Automation division, drive operational excellence, scale revenue, and inspire high performing teams.
Role Overview
The General Manager oversees all day-to-day operations, financial performance, and strategic growth of the HVAC and Building Automation division. This role leads service, construction, controls, and integration teams, ensuring projects are delivered with technical excellence, customer satisfaction, and profitability. The General Manager drives organizational alignment, develops talent, implements operational best practices, and champions a culture of safety, service, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for HVAC, controls, and building automation operations
- Direct financial performance, including revenue growth, margin targets, forecasting, and P&L oversight
- Lead and mentor teams across service, construction, engineering, estimating, sales, and administration
- Ensure high-quality delivery of HVAC mechanical systems, BAS installations, retrofits, commissioning, and service agreements
- Establish and maintain strong customer relationships and long-term partnerships
- Oversee staffing levels, workforce planning, recruiting, and talent development
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, profitability, and team performance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and quality control procedures
- Collaborate with sales teams to support business development and key account strategy
- Manage vendor and subcontractor partnerships to enhance operational capacity
- Foster a high-performance culture characterized by accountability, collaboration, and innovation
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing HVAC, building automation, mechanical contracting, or related technical operations
- Proven ability to manage P&L, financial reporting, and operational performance metrics
- Strong team leadership capabilities with experience overseeing multi-disciplinary technical teams
- Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation, controls integration, or mechanical services
- Excellent communication, customer relations, and problem solving skills
- Ability to drive strategic initiatives, organizational change, and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in HVAC, BAS, controls integration, or mechanical services
- Experience managing service contract portfolios or building automation retrofit programs
- Familiarity with major BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium, Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Distech, etc.)
- Background in energy optimization, retro-commissioning, or performance contracting
- Prior experience scaling a division or leading multiple operational units
