Position Summary
The HVAC Assistant Service Manager supports daily HVAC service operations while developing technicians, strengthening customer relationships, and driving operational performance. This role works closely with the Service Manager to coordinate service delivery, manage workflow, and uphold high standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
This position is well suited for an experienced HVAC professional seeking to advance into leadership while remaining engaged in technical operations and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
- Assist the Service Manager with oversight of daily commercial and industrial HVAC service operations
- Coordinate technician scheduling, dispatching, and job prioritization to improve productivity and response times
- Support execution of service agreements, demand service calls, and small project work
- Ensure all work meets company standards, safety requirements, and industry best practices
Team Leadership and Development
- Provide daily guidance, coaching, and technical support to HVAC service technicians
- Assist with onboarding and training of new technicians and apprentices
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Support performance evaluations and identify skill development and advancement opportunities
Customer Experience and Communication
- Act as a secondary point of contact for key customers to help resolve service issues
- Participate in job walk throughs, scope reviews, and customer follow-up
- Maintain a professional, solutions focused service approach that supports long-term customer relationships
Administrative and Financial Support
- Review service tickets, timecards, and job documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with estimating minor repairs and service work
- Help track labor efficiency, callback trends, and service performance metrics
Safety and Compliance
- Reinforce safety policies and ensure technicians comply with all safety and regulatory requirements
- Participate in safety meetings and support incident prevention initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Prior commercial HVAC service experience
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, or support field teams
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Strong communication skills with technicians, customers, and leadership
- Ability to use service management software, mobile field tools, and basic office applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Lead Technician, Field Supervisor, or Assistant Service Manager
- Experience working with service agreements and preventative maintenance programs
