Position Summary
An established commercial and industrial HVAC mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and grow its Nashville operations. This executive leadership role is responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the market, including project execution, team leadership, customer relationships, business growth, staffing strategy, and profitability.
The ideal candidate will bring strong operational leadership experience within the commercial HVAC, mechanical construction, design-build, or industrial contracting industries. This individual will be responsible for driving performance, ensuring operational excellence, developing teams, and supporting sustained market growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the Nashville market’s operational and financial performance.
- Manage and develop project managers, operations personnel, and support staff.
- Oversee project execution to ensure quality, schedule, safety, and profitability objectives are achieved.
- Maintain full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for the branch or regional operation.
- Develop annual business plans, revenue forecasts, and operational strategies.
- Ensure effective staffing, workforce planning, and talent development initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships with owners, contractors, engineers, and strategic partners.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities and expand market presence.
- Establish and improve operational processes, procedures, and performance metrics.
- Support sales and business development efforts while maintaining a strong operational focus.
- Monitor project financial performance, cash flow, risk management, and resource allocation.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and customer service excellence.
- Represent the organization throughout the Nashville market and surrounding region.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience within commercial HVAC, mechanical contracting, mechanical construction, or related industries.
- Leadership experience managing operations, project teams, or business units.
- Demonstrated experience managing project managers and operational personnel.
- Proven profit and loss (P&L) management experience.
- Strong knowledge of project delivery, construction operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
- Experience building and maintaining customer relationships.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while driving organizational growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Design-build project experience.
- Experience managing annual revenues of $25M to $50M or greater.
- Previous General Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Business Unit Manager, Senior Project Manager, or similar leadership experience.
- Experience within commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, or large-scale mechanical construction environments.
- Professional industry certifications.
