Position Overview
The HVAC Project Manager is responsible for leading commercial and industrial HVAC projects from initial planning through final closeout in the Greensboro area. This role has full accountability for safety, quality, schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and experienced in managing multiple projects while building strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
This position offers the opportunity to manage highly visible projects that directly impact facilities, end users, and surrounding communities.
Key Responsibilities
Required
- Manage multiple commercial HVAC construction and retrofit projects simultaneously, typically ranging from $50,000 to $5 million
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of assigned projects including kickoff, scheduling, procurement, installation, commissioning, and closeout
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, maintaining consistent communication and managing expectations
- Develop and manage project schedules, labor plans, and budgets to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
- Coordinate with engineers, field supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, and vendors
- Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with contract requirements
- Monitor jobsite safety and enforce established safety standards and best practices
- Track project costs, manage change orders, and maintain accurate project documentation
- Lead project closeout activities including punch lists, documentation, training, and warranty coordination
Preferred
- Experience managing design-build HVAC projects
- Familiarity with healthcare, education, industrial, or mission-critical facilities
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior project managers or project coordinators
Qualifications
Required
- Experience managing commercial HVAC or mechanical construction projects
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and construction methods
- Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and subcontractors
- Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites within the Greensboro region
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials
- Experience using platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management tools
