General Description
The organization is seeking an experienced Project Manager I to support its Western Colorado operations. This role is responsible for organizing, managing, and executing small to medium-sized projects from development through completion. The Project Manager I is accountable for achieving unit gross profit objectives while meeting contractual obligations and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
This role operates with executive-level guidance and collaborates closely with internal departments, customers, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution and Financial Performance
- Manage execution and financial redemption of assigned projects.
- Achieve project gross profit objectives while meeting contractual commitments.
- Prepare, manage, and control project budgets based on detailed estimates.
- Conduct cost analysis and manage equipment and material utilization, scheduling, and cost control.
Leadership and Coordination
- Lead cross-functional, interdepartmental teams to complete projects accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Define project tasks and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
- Provide clear project communication internally (field teams and finance) and externally (customers and subcontractors).
Risk, Quality, and Compliance
- Conduct project risk assessments and report risks to management with mitigation recommendations, including project termination when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, contractual, industry, and company regulations and standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and project status updates.
Customer and Vendor Relations
- Act as liaison between the organization, customers, and vendors.
- Address questions, concerns, disputes, and claims throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide high-quality customer service to ensure satisfaction and long-term relationships.
- Requisition, negotiate, and audit subcontracts.
Change Management and Sales Support
- Identify and manage out-of-scope work requests.
- Prepare RFIs and Change Order Requests.
- Quote and sell changes in scope.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to provide training and technical input for new projects, programs, and systems.
Internal Collaboration
- Develop and maintain strong internal relationships and partnerships across departments.
- Support continuous improvement and teamwork within the organization.
Additional Duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Over 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing
- Ability to travel to job sites across Western Colorado
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software
- Proficiency with Procore project management software
- At least three years of related project management experience
- Experience in HVAC, construction, engineering, or a related industry
- Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, leadership, and supervisory skills
- Experience working with business stakeholders in a cross-functional, matrixed environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business, Engineering, or Communications
- Project management certifications such as PMP, PgMP, CAPM, or comparable credentials
- Demonstrated success building long-term relationships with internal teams, vendors, and customers
