Compensation

  • Base Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 annually
  • Performance Bonus: Up to $10,000 annually based on business performance and achievement of operational goals

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Service Manager to lead and grow our service operations in Charlotte, North Carolina. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, customer satisfaction, technician development, and workplace safety. The successful candidate will oversee a team of HVAC Service Technicians, ensuring quality service delivery while supporting business growth and profitability.

This position requires a hands-on leader with strong technical HVAC knowledge, excellent people management skills, and a proven ability to manage service operations, customer relationships, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities
Required Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the HVAC service department.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accountability for service department profit and loss performance.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve operational efficiency, technician productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop HVAC Service Technicians and support staff.
  • Review technician work quality, service documentation, and customer communications.
  • Collaborate with service coordinators and dispatch personnel to optimize scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication and service excellence.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Analyze service performance data and operational metrics to support forecasting, budgeting, and business planning.
  • Assist in preparing repair and replacement proposals by reviewing labor, equipment, and material costs.
  • Review service profitability reports and implement improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Coordinate service activities, installations, repairs, and equipment replacement projects.
  • Ensure technicians have the necessary tools, training, and resources to perform effectively.

Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Hire, onboard, train, and mentor service department personnel.
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Assign and direct work activities while monitoring productivity and service quality.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve operational issues effectively.
  • Support employee engagement, retention, and career development initiatives.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HVAC service management, service supervision, or related leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and/or industrial HVAC systems, controls, maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
  • Demonstrated experience managing service teams and field operations.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and profit-and-loss accountability.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with service management platforms and business operating systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to occasionally work outside normal business hours, including overtime and weekends when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Advanced HVAC certifications or industry credentials.
  • Experience managing commercial HVAC service operations.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems and HVAC controls.
  • Experience leading teams of 10+ technicians and service personnel.
