Job Title: Building Automation Systems Estimator

 

Building Automation Estimator Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in estimating roles, demonstrating proficiency in assessing project requirements, and providing accurate cost estimations. This position requires working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various outside sales representatives, and operations personnel.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine the scope of work and materials required for building automation systems installations.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to develop comprehensive estimates for client proposals.
  • Analyze project requirements, including equipment selection, labor costs, material pricing, and subcontractor quotes, to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to generate detailed proposals and cost breakdowns for clients.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, and internal teams to address inquiries, provide clarification on estimates, and ensure alignment on project scope.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimating activities, including documentation of assumptions, pricing data, and project specifications.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and market pricing to enhance estimating accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Contribute to process improvements and best practices for the estimating department to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in estimating roles, preferably in the building automation, energy management, or HVAC industry. (Preferred)
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and related technologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in estimating tasks.
  • Exceptional multitasking and time management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact with clients and subcontractors.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.
