About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Building Automation Operations Manager to lead our growing BAS (Building Automation Systems) team in the Greater Baltimore Area. Reporting to the Mid-Atlantic Director of Operations, this role is responsible for managing operations, project execution, field staff, and department performance. This is a key leadership position supporting our mission to deliver high-quality building automation solutions for commercial, institutional, and government clients.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee the successful execution of building automation projects within the Greater Baltimore market

Lead and manage departmental operations including direct reports such as Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and Electricians

Establish efficient processes and systems to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality service delivery

Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring accurate monthly and year-end forecasting

Conduct and lead monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reviews and maintain accountability for cost-to-complete estimates

Ensure full compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and internal policies

Maintain regulatory compliance with all federal, state, and local codes and agencies

Mentor, coach, and provide performance evaluations for team members, including setting SMART goals and facilitating development plans

Champion employee engagement, professional development, and training initiatives

Support collaboration with the HVAC sales and business development team for project planning and client engagement

Contribute to client retention and business growth by building relationships and demonstrating technical leadership

Maintain a current understanding of BAS industry trends, technology, and the regional construction market

Promote a high-performance culture focused on safety, accountability, and operational excellence
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Minimum 5 years of experience managing Building Automation System construction projects

3–5 years of leadership experience supervising project managers, electricians, or BAS field staff

Strong working knowledge of Building Automation Systems, including HVAC controls, integration, and energy management solutions

Familiarity with Automated Logic controls is strongly preferred

Experience in vertical markets such as healthcare, higher education, or federal government buildings

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft Dynamics, AX, or CRM platforms is a plus

Excellent communication, leadership, and document management skills
