Job Title: Project Engineer

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:
Design and engineer the HVAC building automation control system hardware and software programming based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents. Provide analysis of building control and mechanical system performance at a complete systems and campus level. Ensure documentation is accurate and complete. Provide project management on projects as required, interfacing directly with customers.   Manage sub-contractors and suppliers. Direct project financial responsibility increases with tenure in this position, including use of our project management financial reports.  
 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete control system overall design responsibility
  • Program and graphic development for user interface, including: Point input & outputs, Sequencing, Trend Logs, Alarms, Reports, Back ups, and DDC code modifications
  • Panel Construction and controller terminations if required
  • Manage the start-up and checkout of controllers making up the Building Automation Systems
  • Manage the commissioning of Building Control Systems
  • Record and update drawings and software modifications
  • Engineer field changes, maintain as-build documentation
  • Develop and conduct owner training
  • Provide project management tasks (job plans, labor planning/scheduling, fiscal analysis, etc)
  • Material ordering/coordination
  • Foreign Protocol Integration coordination and execution
  • Manage time to complete assignments on time and within budget

  • Computer hardware, software, and programming skills
  • Troubleshooting & analytical skills
  • Exceptional interactive and communication skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of DDC (direct digital control) Theory and Applications is helpful
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment is helpful
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised
  • ACAD skills

 

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This position requires a combination of working in an office environment and routine visits to project jobsites up to 50% of working hours. Project jobsites present typical construction and outdoor conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment for safety purposes.  Lifting and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds more frequently is required.  Must be comfortable climbing a ladder infrequently. Small repetitive motions and use of small tools is included.

 

Position Type & Hours:

  • Full-time, exempt
  • Typical Monday – Friday working hours with flexibility as needed
  • Local travel required with infrequent day or overnight travel

 

 

Credentials & Experience:

  • Engineering undergraduate degree  
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Computer programming experience
  • Building Mechanical system experience
  • Experience with electronics and basic electrical circuits
