Position Summary

The Building Automation Service Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing service contract opportunities for building automation systems (BAS). This role focuses on client acquisition, solution selling, and strategic partnerships to grow recurring revenue from service and maintenance agreements. The ideal candidate has a strong technical understanding of building automation systems, a background in B2B sales, and a passion for customer success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new service opportunities in the building automation and controls market

  • Develop tailored BAS service solutions, including preventative maintenance, system optimization, and technical support packages

  • Build strong relationships with facility managers, engineers, and building owners

  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to scope and price service agreements

  • Lead the proposal and contract negotiation process from initial contact through closing

  • Maintain CRM data and track sales performance metrics

  • Attend industry events, client meetings, and networking functions to generate leads and raise brand awareness

  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging BAS technologies

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in business development or sales within the building automation, HVAC, or building services industry

  • Proven track record of securing and growing service agreements or long-term maintenance contracts

  • Strong knowledge of BAS platforms (Niagara, Tridium, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, etc.)

  • Understanding of energy management, controls integration, and system optimization strategies

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
