BAS Service Technician – Boston Massachusetts

Job Title: Building Automation Service Technician

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of building automation systems (BAS) that control HVAC, lighting, and energy management systems. You’ll work closely with clients and internal teams to ensure building systems are running efficiently and reliably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform service, maintenance, and troubleshooting on BAS/HVAC control systems in commercial and institutional facilities.
  • Diagnose and correct control system issues, including sensor problems, communication errors, and software faults.
  • Commission new installations and upgrades, including point-to-point checkout, sequence verification, and tuning of control loops.
  • Load, configure, and back up control system software and databases.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Provide technical support to customers on-site and remotely.
  • Maintain clear and accurate service records, reports, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for system upgrades or enhancements and communicate with sales or project teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service requests as needed.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and a clean and safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience servicing or installing building automation systems.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC control systems and sequences of operation.
  • Familiarity with one or more BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens, Honeywell, or Distech.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems and controls wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient with laptops and software tools used for diagnostics and programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, Electrical, or a related field (preferred).
