Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Building Automation Submittal Engineer to develop, manage, and deliver complete and accurate submittal packages for Building Management System (BMS) and HVAC control projects. The Submittal Engineer plays a critical role in the early phase of each project by translating engineered designs and specifications into detailed documentation required for approval and implementation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in building automation systems, controls hardware and software, and mechanical/HVAC system fundamentals.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and compile detailed submittal packages for Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects, including:

Control drawings and wiring schematics
-
Sequences of operation (SOO)
-
Bill of Materials (BOM)
-
Product data sheets and cut sheets
-
Network architecture diagrams
-
Valve and sensor schedules
Review mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings and specifications to ensure accurate submittal documentation.
Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and sales teams to validate submittal accuracy and completeness.
Interpret specifications and ensure compliance with project requirements, company standards, and local building codes.
Track submittal progress and communicate revisions or resubmittals as required by consultants, contractors, or clients.
Support procurement by validating part numbers, quantities, and lead times based on approved submittals.
Assist in generating as-built documentation and final turnover packages for project closeout.
Maintain document control processes and version management within project management software or shared platforms.
Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related technical field.

2–5 years of experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or MEP engineering.

Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control sequences, and DDC/BAS hardware.

Proficiency in reading blueprints, control drawings, and construction documents.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar drafting/markup tools.

Familiarity with common BAS platforms such as Niagara, Distech, Siemens, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls.

Excellent organizational, communication, and document management skills.

Attention to detail and ability to meet submittal deadlines under pressure.
Preferred Skills & Experience:

Experience with Revit, Visio, or BIM coordination tools

Prior experience with controls integration or commissioning support

Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks protocols

Experience working with submittal review and approval workflows in construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, or eSub)
