About the Role:
We are seeking a Building Automation Commissioning Technician (Controls Technician) to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the startup, commissioning, and performance validation of Building Automation Systems (BAS), primarily focused on DDC (Direct Digital Control) systems. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering and programming teams to ensure all systems are installed, configured, and operating to specification.
Key Responsibilities:

Commission and Start Up DDC Systems by reviewing project requirements, sequence of operations, and control system design documentation.

Verify System Performance through onsite testing and “Big Picture Checkout” alongside HBT engineers to ensure BAS systems function as intended.

Coordinate with Electrical Subcontractors to ensure correct field installation practices and wiring methods.

Maintain Accurate Project Documentation including updated wiring diagrams, sequence changes, commissioning logs, and DDC programming records.

Oversee Project Close-Out by organizing system turnover to the Project Manager and ensuring all programming corrections and display adjustments are complete.

Communicate Construction Progress to Project Managers and Coordinators with regular updates, scheduling input, and change order documentation.

Support Budget and Cost Management by contributing to monthly labor cost reviews and initiating corrective actions when needed.

Stay Current with BAS Technology by attending industry training, reviewing product documentation, and keeping informed of installation standards and best practices.

Promote a Collaborative Team Culture by mentoring new technicians, sharing knowledge, and maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.

Travel as Needed to support commissioning at various client locations, including multi-regional sites for high-profile accounts.
Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems, HVAC Controls, or DDC commissioning

Strong understanding of BAS programming, control sequences, and mechanical systems

Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and control wiring diagrams

Hands-on experience with BACnet, Modbus, or similar open-protocol systems a plus

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Willingness and ability to travel to project sites
