Job Title: Estimator II – Mechanical Construction

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator II to prepare competitive bids and cost estimates for mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems. This role requires strong attention to detail, solid technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed mechanical estimates using company templates, takeoff software, and industry-standard methods
- Develop proposal letters, scope clarifications, exclusions, and final pricing packages
- Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and compliant with project documents and scope requirements
- Monitor all bid addenda, scope changes, and updates to ensure timely incorporation into proposals
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing for technical accuracy and competitiveness
- Review architectural, structural, and civil plans to assess impact on mechanical systems
- Collaborate with business development and preconstruction teams to finalize proposals
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, interviews, and client walkthroughs
- Assist with project hand-off to project management and field operations teams
- Provide input on value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
- Maintain accurate estimating records and organize all documentation in bid management systems
- Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and construction techniques for HVAC, plumbing, and sheet metal work
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to the improvement of estimating processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science, or related field (required)
- 2+ years of experience in commercial mechanical estimating
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents
- Team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
