Job Title: HVAC Estimator – Commercial & Industrial Projects

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for commercial HVAC projects, including new construction, HVAC retrofits, and preventative maintenance contracts. The ideal candidate will combine technical HVAC knowledge with cost estimating expertise to help us deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC Estimating & Cost Analysis

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial HVAC projects, including labor, materials, and equipment.

• Review blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications to determine project scope.

• Provide accurate takeoffs for ductwork, piping, controls, and HVAC components.

Project Scope & Proposal Development

• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to define scope of work.

• Develop bid proposals and present cost breakdowns to clients and stakeholders.

• Ensure estimates comply with local building codes, HVAC standards, and safety regulations.

Client Communication & Support

• Engage directly with clients to discuss cost-saving HVAC solutions, energy-efficient upgrades, and system options.

• Assist the sales team with technical insights during the proposal process.

Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination

• Obtain pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

• Maintain an updated database of HVAC equipment costs and labor rates.

Process Improvement & Industry Knowledge

• Stay informed on HVAC industry trends, energy efficiency standards, and pricing changes.

• Recommend improvements to estimating tools, templates, and workflows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC estimating experience.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems: chillers, boilers, rooftop units, VAV systems, ductwork, pumps, and controls.

• Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and digital takeoff tools.

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and specifications.

• Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Experience estimating HVAC retrofit projects, new construction HVAC systems, and mechanical upgrades.

• Understanding of preventative HVAC maintenance programs and energy management solutions.
